What is a Roth 401k? I was reading about what a roth 401k was, but still am not sure if I should invest in a regular 401k or a roth 401k? |

A roth 401k is just like a Roth IRA... Except with the higher limits of a 401k, and done through payroll deductions.
The difference between the Roth and the traditional 401k, is after tax verse pre tax contributions. The younger you are, the better the Roth is for you...
Here's a simple scenario... Assume you contribute $10,000 into a 401k and you are 30 years from retirement. Assuming the balance doubles every 7 years...
That $10,000 will be worth more thean $80,000.
In a Roth, that $80,000 will be tax free when you take it out at Retirement...
In a traditional, you will have to be tax on that amount, but you got the deduction of the origianl $10K when it was contributed.

See if your employer does a 401k match first. Like, if you contribute $2000, they match some percentage, commonly 25-50%. So instead of $2000, you get $2500-$3000 in your 401k account. The employer puts a cap on how much they match, however. 401k contributions are not taxed now (if you are at the bottom of a tax bracket, you might just drop to the next lower one!), but rather when you withdraw the money.
Roth IRAs are money that you've earned that's already been taxed, so it's not taxed when you tap into it during retirement. These are best for people whose employers do not offer 401k plans with matching.

You will also want to consider what tax bracket you are in now. If it is high, you may be better off with the pretax 401k. The withdrawals you make in retirement count as ordinary income and may be in a far less tax bracket than you are now. In the example above while the 80,000 would be tax free, the initial investment of $10,000 would not be equal due to taxes.
If an employee had a loan from their 401k and was terminated beofre it was paid, then moved the remainder of the 401k balance to a roth ira and then deducted an additioanl amount how much of a penality will be given?
