Notification of 401k company change? The company I worked for until they closed our office changed 401k administrators. I only found out when I went to the old site and my balance was zero. Is there any kind of law that they must advise me when my money is being moved, and that there is a black out period? I'm pretty upset by this. |

Were you adversely affected by this change? Or are you just mad because they made a change.
Generally, you must be notfied. This is governed by ERISA and the department of labor.
The company my husband and i worked for decided to change firms that handled our 401k. when the transfer was made the balance in my account was $1846 and they only transfered $1680 because they said that was the market value. can the company force me to do this when it means i lose money?
