When filing 'married filing seperately' is one spouse responsible for the taxes owed or filing errors of the other spouse? I am currently seperated from my spoue. He has withdrawn a large amount of his retirement funds without having any taxes taken out of that money. He also has earned approx. $2,200 additional income that he tells me he won't get a 1099 on which had no taxes taken out of it. If I file seperately what kind of obligation am I under to pay taxes on the funds he withdrew, and the moneies which he is considering not reporting? We are still married. |
