I retired early last year because I was no longer happy with the job and I wanted to have the chance to enjoy my life before old age over takes my chances. Personally, early retirement has many advantages. It gave me a chance to pursue other activities besides working an 8 to 5job. Right now, I am enjoying myself with online jobs without a boss constantly behind my back. Online job allows more flexible working hours, so I still have sometime left for my small business. After working for almost 20 years, I am enjoying my life to the fullest.

For society as a whole, early retirement of employees creates a vacancy they can apply for. It provides an opportunity for other people to have a meaningful job. Retirees most often have money to spare to start a business like I did. This creates employment for the community.

For many, these days, it is a way to stave off starvation. Job losses have forced many individuals into retirement much earlier that they intended.

But that is a decided disadvantage to society. First, you have potentially productive members of society no longer contributing to the GDP. They are, instead, for the first time contributing to the ever increasing draw-down on the financial resources of the already strapped nation.

Through no particular fault of their own, they are put out to pasture a bit too early for their own sake, as well as for the sake of the productivity of the country. The disadvantages far outweigh the advantages for all concerned.
