Shouldn't at least one Space Shuttle remain in Houston?

The space shuttle Atlantis goes to Florida, the Endeavor, to Los Angeles, the Discovery, to Virginia, and the Enterprise to New York.

Now, didn't Houston, Texas deserve at least one of them?

US Sen. John Cornyn, said the Johnson Space Center in Houston should have been one of the retirement homes for a shuttle, "but it is clear political favors trumped common sense and fairness in the selection of the final locations for the orbiter fleet."

Do you agree with him?

Is it possible that nobody thinks that at least one bird could have staid in it's nest?

Clearly, Houston deserved better. Los Angeles, Virginia, and New York. should have been seen as lesser candidates but politics always come first

Answer 3/5 - Submitted 4/13/2011

I lived in Houston for many years and I am accustom to driving past the Johnston Space Center; therefore, I may be a bit prejudiced. Yes, I am in total agreement with US Senator John Cornyn that the Johnson Space Center should have been the retirement home to at least one of the space shuttles.

When something like this occurs, I am simply amazed that political favors take precedence over common sense and fair play. This is one more example of our American politics.

It would be most interesting to have someone like Bill O'Reilly from Fox News, The Factor, investigate this and determine who made these decisions and why and have that individual to appear on the factor and explain this to the American public.

You are so right White! It would be great if somebody would investigate this and explain how this decision was made. I am really a space fan, and I firmly believe that NASA and space research is too important to be outsourced so lightly.

Unfortunately, it seems that today, politics is the main factor in all the decisions. Thank you for a great answer!
