Non-relative joint custody

I have a 16 year old girl that has been living with me and my wife for the last year and a half with the permission of her father. We are needing to move out of the county in Georgia that we live in. Her father lives in th same county as we do now and in the same school district. We would need to have legal custody of her to enroll her in school in the new county. Can we get joint legal custody of her in Georgia without her father having to give up custody?

You should be able to, is the father willing to do this? If so, you probably don't need to go to court. here's a link where you might be able to learn more: http://ocss.dhr.georgia.gov/portal/site/DHR-OCSE/

As long as the father is willing it would make it so much easy but yes you would still have to go to court because you are moving a minor child out of the state if the father changes his mind it could be classified as kidnapping. with his agreement you only have to have a sign document stating the fact that the other parent has agree with his signature and file it no lawyers needed.
