Legal Resources for purchasing a faulty Pellet Stove for heating a residence We purchased a pellet stove in August in hopes that our investment would help save money on heating cost and be cleaner for our environment. Not even getting one season out of our nearly $4000 investment, our stove has not been working correctly. It smokes out our house while we are asleep causing our smoke alarms to go off and soot damage to our carpets and furniture, and there have been some other problems with the stove also. The dealer we have purchased the stove from have not been helpful in terms of resolving the situation, they offer a 1 year full warrenty on all products. They say they are too busy to return our calls, and they have contacted the manufacturer. I am wondering what kind of legal resource we have in getting the stove fixed and what legal resource we have in potential futer problems as well with a major home purchase such as this? What time frame are they expected to have this problem resolved as this is our heating source? |

You should get the estimates of the damages together and take them to small claims court - we are not all about suing people on here, but that is dangerous as well as damaging and they should fix it immediately. Tell them you are filing a lawsuit if they don't fix the problem asap. Sorry - that has to be awful during the winter!

If your pellet stove is smoking in the house, either the air is not adjusted right, the pipe is not sealed to the back of your unit, or your air intake is too close to the exhaust. The door , or ash drawer seals must be leak free. Also. You can check the door and ash drawer seal by shutting them on a dollar bill and seeing if the bill pulls out easily. If so replace seals or adjust door. The stove should be cleaned every ton,or 50 bags of pellets to avoid clogging, from ash build up. Good luck
