Is it legal to refuse to send out necessary forms for 401K distribution? I retired yesterday. Called JPM today to ask them to send final distribution paperwork as I wish to rollover to IRA. They claim my employer's plan prohibits them from even sending out the paperwork until they are officially notified that I have retired. My employer says maybe they will send that notification in 2-3 weeks. Is it legal to deny me access to this information until they feel like sending it out? I thought it was my responsibility to determine if I was eligible to do this, not the responsibility of the plan or my ex employer. |
