Catch up contributions Can you tell me if a couple is married, one is retired, one is still working,is in a 401K at work and contributing $5000 to a catch up. Both are over 65. Is the one retired eligible for a $5000 catch up contribution to a Roth IRA? Thank you.

Please explain the rules of catch up contributions. do you have to contribute the maximum amount before making a catch up contribution? is a catch up contribution treated the same for discrimination testing purposes?
