SSi is untouchable as far as child support but the other retirement plans may be able to be seized.

If your ex is receiving ssi then the child is eligible for benefits back to his elegibility date.

Answer 3/3 - Submitted 4/30/2011

Absolutely!
According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Resources. When an individual is retired or disabled and begins to recieve ssi then a garnishment can be placed against the beneficiary's social security check to collect on a child's support obligation even if the child has passed the age of majority.
I highly recommend checking with your States local Child Support Enforcement Office for exact clarity.
