Alimony New Jersey My mom filed for divorce in Nov. My father who is permanetly disable has been rescheduling any and all meetings bring her lawyer bill over 15k. She has court tomorrow and her lawyer isn't doing much to help. She makes $55k a yr. He is asking for $300 a week plus child support for my 14y.o. brother. He wants 50% of her 401k. She has worked her entire life for him to take it away. Her lawyer is saying the judges in NJ look at numbers not why they are getting divorced. Is this correct? Is there anyway for her to not have to pay this? If she has to pay $300 a wk. she won't have enough left over for her to pay rent, a car payment - nothing. and he'll have his SS ck, alimony + ch. support He's a scumbag lazy bum. How is this possible? Is there anything that will be able to help her? |
