With the current economic crisis; Should I continue to contribute to my 401K?

With the current economic crisis; Should I continue to contribute to my 401K?

How secure are 401K investments? Can I plan on it at retirement time regardless of economic conditions?

If you can afford to keep contributing, then you should probably continue to do so. The market is very scary right now but the good part is there are a lot of relatively cheap stocks out there. The flip side is if you are going to be retiring soon then you do not want to be investing in volatile stocks right now, but rather safer, steadier investments that are not flashy but that should not lose much value.

It depends on what they are tied too, if they are tied to the stock market, maybe not

the only safe investments are basic savings accounts, CDs, and US treasury bonds.
