I lost track of my 401k account about 10-15 years ago,v how can I find where my money is? The most I remenber is when I left my employer I did not take anything,nor money or information or any kind of paper work (Sheraton Hotels) and I rmenber I had 1 or 2 thousand dollars in my account, I 've lost track of my 401K and never had another account, and had no money deducted from any other employment, how I learn what happened to my money? |

According to NBCLA.com, there are secure government websites where you enter in your social security number and they search through numerous databases to see if there is any unclaimed money out there for you. This also applies to closed-out bank accounts, unclaimed wills, trusts, and legal settlements. I tried it once and had no luck. Years later, the company I used to work for was purchased by another company and the new company tracked me down as they were trying to clear their books. So basically it happened by accident, but it was worth a try and I did not experience any problems with identity theft.
