I'm 71 years old and still paying $400.00 a month which started 6 years ago out of my retirement pension,
the said payment is to cover up the interests and penalties for an early withdrawal, is there any possible help for the old guy ?

Answer 2/3 - Submitted 1/16/2011

The requirement is that you must begin withdrawing funds at 70 1/2, so you are two years overdue on doing that. Generally a person can take withdrawals without penalty at 59 1/2, and MUST start taking withdrawals at age 70 1/2. There may be a penalty for the 1 1/2 year delay in making withdrawals, but you'd have to speak with a financial advisor in order to determine that.
