Can a person withdraw funds from thier 401k plan while still a participant who is not of retirement age? I want to pull money from my 401k plan to pay down debt..possibly to make repairs to home.

How do the rules apply to withdrawing form 2 401k accounts. do i withdraw all funds from the 1st before starting to withdraw from the 2nd, or draw some from both at the same time?
I am unemployed and was told that i cannot withdraw my 401k funds from my former employers plan. i do not have any plan documents for this plan, but i was contributing maximum amounts during my 2 years with this company. i have administered several company retirement plans and never have encountered...
