My father passed away and I do not have access to his paperwork or his home. How do I find out if I am a beneficiary of his 401k plan, profit sharing and insurance which he had with the same company he worked for.

Does an employer have to match any amount of money in order for its plan to be called a 401k plan
I am in an employer sponsored 401k plan and they do not match or contribute any money toward it. A friend said to me that it is not a 401k plan without the employer matching some percentage of what I contribute....
